Grand Californian

There area no shortages of amazing hotels at Walt Disney World and no shortage of great places for a local to hangout in them - whether you want opulent (Grand Floridian), beautiful views (the Contemporary), a look at nature (Animal Kingdom Lodge) or great food (take your pick). But none measures up as an all around go-to place for any occasion like the Grand Californian. The Grand, as it’s called there, was my favorite place to meet up with someone at the Resort. The lobby is beautiful. The Hearthstone lounge is comfortable both inside and out with its outdoor fireplace as is the Napa Rose lounge. And it has my favorite quick service (Whitewater Snacks), casual (Storyteller Cafe) and fine dining (Napa Rose) restaurants on property. And on the occasions where I got to stay there it didn’t disappoint with its unique views into DCA. The 2001 expansion of the Disneyland Resort rightly received a ton of criticism, but the Grand Californian is one thing they got right.
