Glancing around the room you could see all smiling ear to ear. Children excitedly pointing to their drawings, or other family member's drawings. Moms being sure the family didn't miss seeing each other drawings. The newly created characters were marching, dancing and skating as the tune continues. But then transitions to the rousing "Friend Like Me" as our creations appear in scenes from various films including Aladdin, Cinderella, Princess and the Frog, Three Caballeros or even classic Mickey shorts such as Hawaiian Holiday. What a thrill to watch our sketches dance alongside Mickey Mouse in the 1942 short Mickey's Birthday Party or see Gideon's marching along with Pumbaa from The Lion King and see surrounding guests respond to their characters' appearances.

As the curtain closed, cheers and applause erupt. The credits roll and our names are listed among the many "guest animators" aka our dining companions. My sister and I both found ourselves wiping away a tear. It was an unbelievable feeling to see something we had earlier sketched come to life and then appear side by side with beloved Disney favorites.

Following the show our servers returned the new animation stars a.k.a. our sketches but now  each sheet had an embossed gold seal "Official Disney Animator" with the cruise line logo.

Watching our characters come alive makes Animation Magic at Animator's Palate aboard the Disney Fantasy an unforgettable experience definitely on my "don't miss this" list.

TIPS

Prepare your little ones to participate with practice drawing inside the lines. Only those portions that appear within the blue lines will appear on screen. Gideon's drawing looked like this on paper, and this on screen.

Consider something that makes your drawing easily identifiable to all in your party especially if you have little ones. And look at each other's drawings before you give them to your server.
