Million Dollar Arm to Support Community Game Changers

Do you have a game-changing idea to help your community? Disney’s Million Dollar Arm and Indiegogo are collaborating through the Change the Game contest to recognize individuals who are making a difference in their local communities through the “Change The Game Contest” (the “Contest”). This unique opportunity brings the spirit of Million Dollar Arm to life and offers people the chance to turn their inspiring, game-changing ideas into a reality with a chance to win $25,000 for their campaign. Additionally the top four (4) finalists will receive contributions of $2,500 towards their Indiegogo campaign.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • Create a campaign using this LINK before May 2nd focusing on (see FAQ’s for more details, US-based campaigns only):
    • Revitalization or community development
    • Green initiatives
    • Education or career building
  • Already created a campaign? Simply email [email protected] with the following details to request entry into the Contest:
    • Link to your campaign, Name and Phone Number (allow for 24 hour response time)
  • Participating campaigns will be displayed on Disney’s Million Dollar Arm Page on Indiegogo
  • Participating campaigners can keep all funds raised through their Indiegogo campaign and will eligible for the grand prize to be announced on May 30th.

FAQ’S

ENTRY CRITERIA – ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Campaigns must speak to one of the following areas:

  • Revitalization or new community development: These Campaigns must focus on revitalization efforts in an Entrant’s local community focused on families including but not limited to parks, community centers, libraries, etc.
  • Green Initiatives: These Campaigns must focus on benefiting the Entrant’s local community and ensure that any “environmental” benefits/claims can be substantiated.
  • Education or career building: These Campaigns must focus on benefiting the Entrant’s local community

*Note: You can select any “category” on Indiegogo when creating your campaign, as long as the campaign itself focuses on one of the above areas.

REQUIREMENTS

To qualify as a MDA finalist, ideas must meet the campaign requirements provided in the Official Rules.

FINALIST SELECTION CRITERIA

Campaigns will be scored from 1-10 in each of the following sections by a judging panel within Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The top five (5) highest scoring campaigns will be selected as a finalist:

  • Creativity and originality (33%)
  • Campaign that best celebrates the inspirational spirit behind the movie “Million Dollar Arm” and recognizes an individual with a game changing idea that revitalizes or improves a local community and or the lifestyle of the residents within the community (34%)
  • Campaigns which have obtained at least ten (10) contributions during the Entry Period (33%)

GRAND PRIZE WINNER VOTING PROCESS

The five (5) Finalists’ Campaigns will be open to the public for voting to determine the Grand Prize Winner. Criteria shall be based on which Campaign best celebrates the inspirational spirit behind the motion picture “Million Dollar Arm” and recognizes an individual with a game changing idea that revitalizes or improves a local community and or the lifestyle of the residents within the community.

Each of the Finalists will be assigned a unique hashtag and the general public will vote by posting the unique hashtags on the following social media sites:

The public voting is limited to three (3) votes total per person as follows: one vote per Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The Campaign with the most public votes will be deemed the Grand Prize Winner and the other four (4) Campaigns will be named First Place Prize Winners.

WHAT CAN I WIN?

  • Grand Prize Winner shall receive a $25,000 contribution towards their campaign.
  • Four (4) finalists (First Place Prize Winners) shall receive $2,500 each towards their campaign
  • *All participating camaigners will receive discounted rates on their Indiegogo fees and will be able to keep the funds raised during their campaign, regardless if they are selected as a winner.

HOW LONG DOES THE APPLICATION PROCESS TAKE?

There is a 24 hour turnaround time (during business days) to review entry requests. Once a campaign has been approved of meeting all requirements, it will be live on the Million Dollar Arm Page on Indiegogo.

Please note that all submissions must be received by 11:59pm PST on May 2, 2014. Any submission sent after this time will not be considered. If you’re campaign is not accepted into the Million Dollar Arm Contest, you can still move forward and raise funds with your campaign on Indiegogo, however you will not be eligible to receive any prize money.

ARE THERE FEES FOR USING INDIEGOGO?

Transaction fees apply to all campaigns raising funds on Indiegogo. All participating campaigners launching on the Million Dollar Arm Page on Indiegogoshall receive a 25% discount on these fees, which equate to the following:

  • Campaign fee (goal reached): 3%
  • Campaign fee (goal not reached): 6.75%

CAN I PARTICIPATE IF I’M LOCATED OUTSIDE OF THE US?

Only campaigners launching campaigns in the United States will be considered for entry into the contest.

WHAT IF I’M ALREADY LINKED TO ANOTHER PARTNER PAGE?

Yes. Campaigns can only be linked to one Partner Page on Indiegogo however, so you can either request to have your campaign switched to the Million Dollar Arm Page on Indiegogo, or you can remain on your existing Partner Page. All participating campaigns will be eligible for the Grand Prize, regardless of where your campaign resides. (Campaigns connected to Fiscal Sponsorship Partners will not be able to switch to the Million Dollar Arm Campaign)

*Note: Only campaigns listed on the Million Dollar Arm Page on Indiegogo will be eligible to receive the 25% discount on Indiegogo fees.

GOING LIVE WITH YOUR CAMPAIGN

Campaigns can launch anytime between April 15th and May 2nd. For campaigns launching from this LINK, once you click on “go live”, an approval request will be sent to Disney to approve your campaign to go live. Your campaign will only display on the Million Dollar Arm Page on Indiegogo once it is live and has raised at least $1.00.

HOW LONG CAN MY CAMPAIGN RUN?

Campaigns can run for a maximum of 60 days. Most successful campaigns run for an average of 40 days on Indiegogo. Your campaign can run throughout the entirety of the Contest and beyond, as long as it doesn’t extend past the 60 day maximum.
