YouTube Space LA and Lucasfilm Partner For May the 4th Videos

YouTube Space LA and Lucasfilm partnered to give four YouTube channels an opportunity to shoot and produce an original video inspired by Star Wars on the Mos Eisley cantina replica set in celebration of Star Wars Day (May the 4th). The setting of one of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope’s most famous sequences, the cantina featured the first meeting of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, the long-debated showdown of Han and Greedo, and the memorable music of Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes. In the hands of some of YouTube’s biggest creators, it has been reimagined in exciting and original ways. The new videos will appear on StarWars.com and the official Star WarsYouTube channel, as well as on their producers’ own channels.

The “May the 4th be with YouTube” initiative marks the first-ever “on-location” production event offered by YouTube Next Lab, the programming arm of YouTube Space LA, and is part of YouTube Space LA’s ongoing mission to inspire the next generation of storytellers through innovative programming and partnerships that will push the creative envelope.

YouTube creators shot Star Wars-inspired videos that will appear on StarWars.comand the official Star Wars YouTube channel in  a playlist, as well as on their own channels.

Participating YouTube channels include:
