Walt Disney’s Carolwood Barn Celebrates 15 Years in Griffith Park on Sunday

On Sunday, July 20 from 11am to 3pm the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society will celebrate the 15th anniversary of Walt’s Barn at the Los Angeles Live Steamers in Griffith Park. On July 20, 1999 Diane Disney Miller, personally dedicated the Barn as a tribute to her father, Walt Disney, saying, “Our heart and our heritage is here in this place.”

At 1:00pm the Carolwood Foundation will be making a major announcement as part of this joyous occasion. Fans of classic Disneyland attractions who attend will be the first to hear all about an exciting new addition coming to Walt’s Barn.

Joining the festivities will be the Founders of the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society, Michael and Sharon Broggie. Michael will not only be there as Founder of the CPHS, he will also be offering a rare signing opportunity for a new edition of his award-winning book, Walt Disney’s Railroad Story. This will mark the initial release of the revised all color 4th edition, the 432 page account of Walt’s lifelong passion for railroading. An autographed limited edition bookplate will be offered exclusively with each book sold at the event, marking both the barn’s anniversary and the new book’s release. The new edition features many updates of the original that was released in 1997. Copies may be reserved by sending an email to: [email protected].

Walt Disney’s Carolwood Barn is located at the Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum at 5202 Zoo Drive in Griffith Park.  The barn is open the third Sunday of every month.  Admission is free.  Walt Disney’s Carolwood Barn is operated on behalf of the Walt Disney Family Foundation by the non-profit Carolwood Foundation, a 501(c)3 charity.  The Foundation’s mission is to preserve Walt Disney’s railroad legacy.  This is accomplished through: sharing our volunteers’ and supporters’ love of railroading; teaching our children to understand the role that railroads served in building America; and encouraging the continued appreciation of railroading.  For more information on the Carolwood Foundation please visit www.carolwood.org.  For information about this and upcoming events at Walt Disney’s Barn, please visit us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter (@waltsbarn).
