According to The Hollywood Reporter, Javier Bardem is in talks to play the villain in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The role is described as a ghost-pirate who blames Captain Jack Sparrow for his brother’s death while searching for a supernatural object.
Bardem’s wife, Penelope Cruz, played Angelica in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
The fifth installment in the Pirates franchise will be directed by Joachim Ronnin and Espen Sandbreg and will be released July 7, 2017.
