Walt Disney World Sued Over Injury at Carousel

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Kathy Hayden is suing Walt Disney World as a result of an injury sustained when she fell off of the carousel in September 2013. According to the lawsuit, “Disney changed the design of the stirrup that had been in use on the Carousel for many years, in favor of another model, which provided less tread traction, without anti-slip resistant features and therefore was slippery and dangerous to patrons.”

A Walt Disney World spokesperson responded to the suit by saying, “We believe the lawsuit is without merit and we will respond to it in court.”

Prince Charming Regal Carousel opened with the Magic Kingdom under the name Cinderella’s Golden Carousel.

The carousel was originally built by The Philadelphia Toboggan Company in 1917 as was originally name Liberty.
