Robert Mills to Lead Alternative Series for ABC

Robert Mills has been named senior vice president, Alternative Series, Specials & Late-Night Programming, ABC Entertainment, it was announced today by Paul Lee, president, ABC Entertainment Group. Effective immediately, Mills is charged with development, current production and specials for ABC’s alternative series. He has oversight of the Alternative series staff and reports directly to Lee.

In making the announcement, Lee said, “Rob is a passionate and creative executive with strong leadership skills. His instincts and unparalleled knowledge of pop culture are certain to help invigorate our fantastic reality team.”

In his previous position, Mills was instrumental to the success of “The Bachelor” franchise, the long-running family favorite “AFV” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Mills has overseen production on “Shark Tank,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “The Taste” and the new series from Ellen DeGeneres, “Repeat After Me,” and Mark Burnett’s “500 Questions.” Mills role included oversight of network special events, including the “American Music Awards,” the “CMA Awards,” “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest,” “The Billboard Awards” and the upcoming 87th Oscars®.

Prior to joining the ABC alternative department in 2003, Mills began his career as an assistant in the Alternative Department at CAA. Mills holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stonehill College and a Master of Fine Arts in Film from Loyola Marymount University. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
