Several Permanent Closures, Including a Park Icon, Coming Soon to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Earlier today, Disney announced that the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show was scheduled to close on April 2nd. Now LaughingPlace has confirmed that it will not be the only attraction closing on that day.

The following will also be leaving the park on that day:

  • Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure
  • Mike and Sulley (from Monsters Inc.) meet and greet
  • Studio Catering Co. quick service restaurant
  • The Earful Tower

While not entirely unexpected, the removal of the Earful Tower, which formerly served as the park’s icon, truly highlights the shift in theme Disney’s Hollywood Studios — instead of being a place where guests go behind the scenes of their favorite films, they will now step into the world’s of these movies. This is the second of the park’s former icons to be demolished in recent months following the removal of the Sorcerer’s Hat last year. It is expected that the hat’s removal was due to its visual intrusion into what will be Toy Story Land.Earful_Tower_Disney's_Hollywood_Studios

Many of these closures are due to the impending construction of lands themed to Star Wars and Toy Story properties. As part of the rebranding of the park, Bob Iger famously confirmed that it will be getting a new name, although its new moniker and a date for that change are still unknown.
