EW is reporting the Netflix has ordered a Punisher series. The character, who was the focus of two failed films, found success in the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil. A formal announcement from Marvel and Netflix is expected soon.
Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle.
Writer and executive producer Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal, Casualty) will serve as showrunner.
Punisher joins Daredevil, Jessica Jone, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders mini-series on the streaming service.
No premiere date was announced at this time.
