After several rounds of screen tests and multiple rumors, Deadline is reporting that Alden Ehrenreich will play Han Solo in an upcoming Star Wars standalone film. While it seems like the actor is Disney’s choice, the site does say a deal is still being negotiated. Although he’s a relative unknown to the other names that were circulating, the 26-year-old’s performance in the recent Cohen Brothers’ film Hail, Caesar! was well received.
The Han Solo film will be the latest in a series of “Star Wars Story” films that will kick off with Rogue One this December. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller who directed The Lego Movie will helm the highly anticipated project.
