Disney Proposes to Build Disneyland Horse-Training Facility in Norco

With Star Wars Land set to take over land used as a ranch for Disneyland’s horses, The Orange County Register reports that the company is looking to build a new facility for the animals in Norco, California. There the horses would reside and be trained before commuting to Disneyland three days a week. Currently the park’s 16 horses are staying at a temporary stable in Anaheim.

A relaxing way to ride up or down Main Street U.S.A. is to take a seat in one of the horse-drawn trolleys. They only operate during daylight hours. Originally, the trolleys had a fare box, and the fare was 10 cents. You could also use an "A Coupon" to ride the trolleys, until Disneyland eliminated the coupon books in the early 1980s. The horses only work four-hour shifts, and spend the rest of their time at the Circle D Ranch, located just north of Frontierland on the other side of the berm. The horses that pull the trolleys could be one of five types: Belgians, Percherons, Clydesdales, Brabants or Shires. The trolleys have changed very little over the years, other than some very small details in the paint scheme. //// ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Generic photos of various Disneyland attractions, shops and restaurants as they appear in 2015. Norco is in Riverside County and the proposed site would be just over 30 miles away from the resort. The new Circle D Ranch would sit on 5.3 acres of land there. If approved, the project would be complete by spring of 2017.
