Tony Baxter Shares Concept Art For Never-Built “Mary Poppins” Ride

Mary Poppins has been regarded as both a masterpiece and a classic since its release in 1964. However, despite being featured in The Great Movie Ride, Mary has never had a Disney attraction of her own. Now famed Imagineer has shared his concept art — created when he was still a student in college and not a Disney employee — for a proposed but never built Poppins attraction with D23:

According to Baxter, the idea would have seen riders boarding carousel horses which would soon depart from the carousel to take guests through show scenes. While it didn’t quite get him hired at the time, Baxter says he did get plenty of helpful feedback that allowed him to achieve his dream later down the road… and we can all see how that turned out!

Perhaps one day Mary will get her own attraction, especially with the sequel in the works — we’ll see.
