Disney California Adventure’s Toy Story Midway Mania Finally Adds FastPass (For Better or Worse)

Although Toy Story Midway Mania opened in both Disney’s (now Disney) California Adventure and Disney’s Hollywood Studios mere weeks apart, there have always been some notable difference between the two. In addition to the theming differences — DCA’s is designed to fit into the boardwalk motif of Paradise Pier while DHS takes guests through Andy’s room — another major discrepency was that the East Coast’s version offered FastPass while the West Coast had been standby only. That changed yesterday as FastPass finally came to DCA’s Toy Story Midway Mania:

The new FastPass machines reside across from the ride itself. Toy Story is one of two Disneyland Resort attractions adding FastPass, with the Matterhorn Bobsleds being the other. These additions come ahead of the expected launch of MaxPass, an app-based paid service.

It’s fair to say that, since the launch of Disney FastPass in the last Millennium, the service has had both fans and detractors. As we saw from tweeters yesterday, that remains the case with this latest development:

Meanwhile, it’s still unclear exactly when MaxPass will launch, although recent changes suggest it could be very soon.
