Newest Installment In 'Tech Of' Series Explores the Making of the Full-Length Animated Feature

TechTV, the only cable television channel covering technology information, news and entertainment 24 hours a day, today announced TechTV's "Tech of Disney/Pixar's 'Monsters, Inc.,"' a behind-the-scenes look at the technology and people involved in the production of the hilarious full-length animated feature. TechTV's special, "Tech of Disney/Pixar's 'Monsters, Inc.,"' will premiere on Thursday, November 1 at 8 p.m. EST, one day prior to the film's November 2 national release date.

Pixar Animation Studios, famous for combining entertaining stories with technical advances in computer animation and known for "Toy Story" "A Bug's Life" and "Toy Story 2," will share the story and creation of the making of such a complex film. "Tech of Disney/Pixar's 'Monsters, Inc."' features conversations with the directors, producers, animators and actors involved in the production, as well as the technical experts who solved the complex computer software challenges presented by the story.

"Tech of Disney/Pixar's 'Monsters, Inc."' displays a number of advances in computer animation. The biggest innovation can often be in the smallest detail, such as the fur on monster James P. Sullivan ("Sulley"). "The characters that Pixar created for 'Monsters, Inc.' were created by using the latest and most advanced technologies," commented Greg Drebin, senior vice president of TechTV programming and production. "By presenting this new process and technology to our audience, we are not only satisfying their strong interest in new technologies but also helping them appreciate the movie even more."

From the Academy Award®-winning creators of "Toy Story" comes this hilarious new computer-animated feature that opens the door to a world of monsters and mayhem and scares up lots of laughs in the process. Monsters, Inc. is the largest scare factory in the monster world and the top kid Scarer is James P. Sullivan (John Goodman), a huge, intimidating monster with blue fur, large purple spots and horns, known as "Sulley" to his friends. His Scare Assistant, best friend and roommate is Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal), a lime green, opinionated, feisty, one-eyed monster. Scaring children isn't such an easy job as monsters believe children are toxic and that direct contact with them would be catastrophic. The film's eclectic cast of characters also includes the factory's crab-like CEO Henry J. Waternoose (James Coburn), the beguiling serpent-haired receptionist Celia (Jennifer Tilly), and the sarcastic chameleon monster, Randall Boggs (Steve Buscemi), who schemes to replace Sulley as Monsters, Inc.'s top Scarer. Visiting from the human world is Boo (Mary Gibbs), a tiny girl who turns the monster world upside down.

"Tech of Disney/Pixar's 'Monsters, Inc."' premieres on TechTV on November 1 at 8 p.m. EST and will repeat at 11 p.m. EST. The program will also air on November 2 at 2 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. EST, November 3 at 12:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. EST and November 4 at 3:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. EST.
