McGriff then introduced the newly elected chairwoman from the Orange County Board of Supervisors, Cynthia Coad. Coad thanked AMC for their support of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and expressed her enjoyment of the theater Disney architects created. She went on to say "Movies and the Disneyland Resort are a big part of Orange County, have been for so many years. And it's very exciting for me, as one of Orange County's biggest fans, to be here today." Carr continued, talking about the movie history of Orange County and the history of Disneyland saying "many of us mark our days by the opening of Disneyland back in 1955. We came here then, come again and again, buy the momentos, see the Disney movies and we love to take photos of our kids and grandkids with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy or Donald. My husband and I have had seven children grow up at Disneyland and now we've got 10 grandchildren that I just bought passes for at Christmas. Doesn't take a brain surgeon to know what makes children happy." She went on to welcome AMC Theatres to her community, Orange County.
