Pricing

Now on to pricing ... Splitsville has an interesting pricing system. Rather than charge per person, per game or charge for alley time, they charge per person and alley time. For 1-3 people you pay $20 per person for one hour of bowling. So the two of us paid $40 for our one hour of bowling. If we had a 3rd person, we'd still only have 1 hour of bowling, we each would've had to bowl less to accomodate that, but we'd have paid $60. Once you get over 3 people, the time alloted does start to go up, but not enough to make up for the additional cost. Here's another way to look at it. If you're a family of 4, you can pay $80 ($20 per person) for 1:15 on 1 alley. Or you could split into 2 groups of 2, pay that same $80, but get 1 hour on 2 alleys. It's obvious the 2 alley method is going to get alot more bowling in, but the price is the same.

Rebekah and I used to do a little bowling in California so we looked up the prices at our old bowling alley. They had both per person, per game pricing and lane rental pricing. The lane rental pricing was $13-$22 per hour. It didn't matter how many people bowled because you were renting the lane for a fixed period of time. They did charge each person $4 for shoe rental which Splitsville doesn't, so that makes up a little bit of the difference.

One more note ... Splitsville does offer a straight lane rental price they call "Priority Bowling". See the details for that below.

Other Notes

At 11a on a weekend morning, the alleys at Splitsville were very quiet. They do get busier as the day goes on and we've seen some very long waits in the evenings. There are 30 lanes in total spread out in pods over both floors.

Keep in mind, Splitsville is for fun bowling. You won't find any leagues here and, we've been told, the lanes aren't even quite regulation (though I'm not sure in what way they're not). Gutter bumpers are available for the little ones and will automatically go up and down when it's their turn. They also have a bowling ball ramp that can be used for very little ones or other who are unable to bowl a ball in the traditional fashion.

Overall Thoughts

Pricing aside, we had an awesome time bowling at Splitsville. For our party of two the price is ok and even better if we go during the week. With the atmosphere, the awesome food and great service, I do feel like they deserve the moniker "Luxury Lanes". We look forward to getting back there soon.

Bowling at Splitsville Luxury Lanes: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Post Script

Rebekah and I split the first 2 games. We were neck and neck in game 3 until she got on a hot streak in the last 3 frames and crushed me 90 to 70. No, the PBA is not in our future, but future trips to Splitsville are.
