Disneyland named its 45th Ambassador team in a moving ceremony in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. The event, which took place on Tuesday, October 12, was hosted by current Ambassadors Quinn Shurian and Danielle DuBois and included past Ambassadors, performers, and Disneyland Resort President George Kalogridis. Acknowledged in the invited audience were Disney Legend and first Director of the Disneyland Ambassador program Cicely Rigdon, current Director Diane Killeen, and program coordinator Jennifer Gray.

While hundreds of cast members vie for this prestigious honor, only five finalists successfully negotiated the weeks of preparation, training and interviews. Finalists for 2011 were Jolie Hales, Allie Kawamoto, Allison Montanile, Rene Torrico, and Kristin Williams. After introducing a bevy of past Ambassadors, including Connie Swanson Lane, the second Ambassador from 1966, Resort President George Kalogridis announced the 2011-2012 Ambassador team: Jolie Hale and Rene Torrico.

The Disneyland Resort program began in 1965, and Walt Disney himself chose the first two Ambassadors. The program has since expanded to Walt Disney World (1971), Tokyo Disneyland (1983), Disneyland Paris (1992) and Hong Kong Disneyland (2005). Disney Parks and Resorts Ambassadors serve as official representatives at a myriad of functions, covering three main areas: community outreach, media and event representation, and cast member activities.
