Mildred Nelson christens the Disneyland "Nautilus" submarine for the Grand Opening of the original Submarine Voyage on June 14, 1959. Mrs. Nelson was a former WAVE and the wife of Chief Machinist Mate Stewart N.H. Nelson (left) of the U.S. Navy's first nuclear submarine, the U.S.S. Nautilus.

The Submarine Voyage, the Disneyland Monorail and the now-departed Skyway between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland were new Disneyland attractions in 1959.

The original Submarine Voyage in Tomorrowland took visitors through "liquid space" from 1959 through 1998. Now the submarines are preparing to set sail again on the new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, which will open in June 2007 at Disneyland Park in Anaheim.

Visitors to Disneyland in 1959 looked forward to visiting the "new" Tomorrowland, where the Submarine Voyage was one of the featured attractions.
