Miley Cyrus, star of Disney Channel�s Hannah Montana, celebrated an early 16th birthday at Disneyland on Sunday, October 5, 2008. (She actually turns 16 on November 23.) More than 5,000 guests were on hand as Miley performed four songs, handed over a check for one million dollars to the charity Youth Service America, and received a Maltipoo puppy named Sophie from her parents.

The evening began at 6pm as guests rushed to enter Disneyland, which had closed to the general public an hour earlier. A cavalcade of celebrities in cars arrived in style down Small World Promenade, stepping out at Matterhorn Way. There, they walked past press and autograph seekers on a purple carpet that stretched across the front of Sleeping Beauty Castle and into Frontierland.

The party was spread across Disneyland, with special locations created just for that night. The Golden Horseshoe became the Hannah Montana Dance Party, hosting an Ultimate Band contest. Ultimate Band is a new game from Disney Interactive Studios. Also from Disney Interactive Studios was the Miley Game Zone, located next to the Haunted Mansion Set up across from the Golden Horseshoe, at the Mark Twain loading dock, were Party Photo Booths and Record Your Own CD stations. The nearby Hannah Montana Makeover Zone offered hair braiding, henna tattoos, and face painting. The French Market became the Miley Rock Caf�, hosted by KIIS-FM. Food, trivia games, and fun was offered at this �party central� location. Guests were treated to birthday cupcakes, given out at various locations. At 8:30 the special concert was held on the Fantasmic! stage on the Rivers of America. Local favorites the Suburban Legends were the opening act. This was also the site of the special presentation to Youth Service America by Disney CEO Bob Iger, on behalf of Disney Parks and Resorts.

The evening ended with a Happy Birthday sing-along on Main Street USA, followed by a special fireworks finale. Guests were given gift bags on their way out, containing a mini-poster to commemorate the event, a Hannah Montana DVD game demo, a specially produced disc with 16 songs from Ultimate Band, a Miley�s Sweet 16 backstage pass good for discounted online shopping for Hannah Montana products, a Miley World VIP card for the interactive home of Miley Cyrus, a gift card for free Miley Cyrus music, Hannah Montana Concert Candy, an online code for a Disney Parks Celebrations digital gift, and a brochure detailing the work of Youth Service America.
