Opening Night of Nightmare Before Christmas at the El Capitan Features Danny Elfman and a Live Musical Performance by Amy Lee

Hollywood�s El Capitan Theater has made Tim Burton�s The Nightmare Before Christmas into an annual tradition. Now shown in Disney Digital 3D, the limited run screenings also feature an opening night panel discussion. This year�s panel, held on Friday, October 17, featured the film�s composer, Danny Elfman.

Disney producer Don Hahn, the moderator for the evening, kicked things off with a highlight reel from Elfman�s career. The appreciative audience whooped and cheered as some twenty-five year�s worth of films was featured. They added a standing ovation as the composer himself took the stage.

In the discussion that followed, Elfman�s early career as a musician and performer with Oingo Boingo was detailed. He also spoke of his long time collaboration with Tim Burton. Video clips of his work on the film, including a memorable duet with Catherine O�Hara illustrated the talk.

The discussion wound up with a special treat. A new album of music from the film, Nightmare Revisited, will feature contemporary artists interpreting the songs. To the delight of the audience, Amy Lee of Evanescence was introduced to perform her version of Sally�s Song. Lee accompanied herself on piano and harp, along with a small band.

After thanking both Danny Elfman and Amy Lee, Don Hahn then left the crowd with one more treat�a complete screening of Tim Burton�s Nightmare Before Christmas, in Disney Digital 3D, on the big screen.

The El Capitan run of Nightmare Before Christmas concludes on October 23, with additional midnight showings on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, October 30 through November 1. The Disney Soda Fountain and Studio Store also got into the spirit of the occasion with special Nightmare merchandise, the Oogie Boogie Sundae, and the new Nightmare Revisited CD.

Nightmare Revisited, available on Walt Disney Records, features an opening and closing narration by Danny Elfman, as well as the following tracks and artists:
