LP Lotion: National Thanksgiving Turkey at Disneyland
Page 1 of 2
The National Thanksgiving Turkey, "Pumpkin", went to Disneyland on Thanksgiving Day after a pardon from President George W. Bush. Pumpkin was honored as grand marshal of the Disneyland Thanksgiving Day Parade on Main Street. After the parade, the Thanksgiving guest of honor and his alternate, Pecan, left for Santas Reindeer Round-up in Frontierland where they will remain through the holidays and beyond.
Following the traditional Presidential pardon in a White House Rose Garden ceremony on Wednesday, November 26, Pumpkin headed west for the Thanksgiving Day celebration at Disneyland. Joined by National Turkey Federation Chairman Paul Hill of Ellsworth, Iowa, on a First Class United Airlines flight from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles, the 2008 National Turkey flew 2,288 miles non-stop for the special Thanksgiving Day honor.
The 20-week-old tom turkey weighs about 45 pounds and was raised under Chairman Hills direct supervision on a farm in West Liberty, Iowa.
