Toy Story 2 to premiere on Disney Cruise Lines
Toy Story 2 Makes Disney Cruise Line Debut
Toy Story 2 will open with a Hollywood-style gala premiere for guests aboard the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder cruise ships November 24th, the same day the film goes into nationwide theatrical release.
Buzz Lightyear, Woody and the green army men will all be attendance as Toy Story 2 makes its debut at The Walt Disney Theater. The characters will guide guests through orange traffic cones to the special event. Specially themed trivia contests and limited-edition merchandise will also be available. Throughout the holiday season, Toy Story 2' will be shown at The Buena Vista Theatre aboard both Disney ships. The film marks the second time a popular new film was premiered to Disney Cruise Line guests. Last June, Disney's Tarzan debuted aboard the Disney Magic on the same day as its theatrical release.
"Not only are the toys back in town, but they're now at sea too,'' said Matt Ouimet, Disney Cruise Line president. ``We are proud to be the only cruise line to screen first-run films for our guests.''
Toy Story 2' is the all-new sequel to the landmark 1995 blockbuster from Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios. In this story, Woody is ``toy-napped'' by an obsessive collector, and Buzz Lightyear and the gang must spring into action to rescue their pal. Actors Tom Hanks and Tim Allen reprise their roles as voice talent of Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
The original ``Toy Story'' became the first animated feature ever to be nominated as the best screenplay, and it's the third highest grossing animated film of all time.
