Disney Family Member Marjorie Davis Dies

Services are pending for Marjorie Davis, of Beverly Hills, Calif., a niece of Walt Disney and widow of Marvin A. Davis, the Emmy-award winning architect and designer who helped plan Disneyland.

Davis was the daughter of Bill Cottrell, a Walt Disney executive for more than 50 years, who served as president of the Retlaw Co., which later became Walt Disney Imagineering.

Davis died Wednesday in a Santa Monica hospital after an illness. She was 83.

Her late husband, who died in 1998, helped design numerous attractions at Disneyland and was named a Disney legend.

A native of Lewiston, Idaho, Davis is survived by her children -- Nannette Latchford of Santa Monica, Melinda Carfagno of Burbank and Geoffrey Davis of Centerville, Va., five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Los Angeles Children's Hospital Oncology Department and to the Tree People.
