Anne Gates named senior VP and CFO of Disney Consumer Products

Anne Gates Joins Disney Consumer Products as Sr. VP and Chief Financial Officer

Anne Gates has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer for Disney Consumer Products, it was announced today by Andrew Mooney, president of Disney Consumer Products Worldwide, and Thomas O. Staggs, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer of The Walt Disney Company.

Gates will be responsible for all finance and accounting functions for the Consumer Products division and its operating companies around the globe. She will also lead the division's budgetary and strategic planning reviews, and its Information Technologies function.

Gates served as director of group finance for Disney Consumer Products in 1992 and was promoted in 1993 to vice president of group finance, where she served until 1997 before moving to Disney Interactive and Corporate operations.

"Anne's business acumen and and analytical skills will provide critical building blocks as we position Consumer Products for new growth and activity around the world," Mooney said. "We're very happy she is once again part of our team at Consumer Products."

Added Staggs: "Anne has made invaluable contributions to our company during her career, and particularly in her most recent role in operations and planning. Her talents will serve Consumer Products well as the division focuses on improving its performance."

Gates joined The Walt Disney Company in January 1991 as senior manager of operations and planning, working closely with the Consumer Products division. In 1992, she moved to Disney Consumer Products as director, division finance and business planning, and was promoted to vice president, division finance and planning, in 1994, and later was named vice president, finance, Disney Consumer Products U.S. & Canada.

Gates moved to Disney Interactive in 1997 as vice president, planning and business development, and transitioned to The Walt Disney Company's corporate headquarters in 1998, heading up the operations planning and analysis group.

Prior to joining Disney, Gates worked for PepsiCo, where she spent more than a year in London as manager of business development for Kentucky Fried Chicken in Europe, Middle East & Africa. Gates, who is married and has twin sons and a daughter, received her bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master's degree from Columbia University.
