Disney Online wins educational award
Disney Online's Edu-Station Prevails as a "Curriculum Web Site Awards 2000" Winner
Disney Online has received a Bronze honor from the Curriculum Web Site Awards 2000 competition, sponsored by Curriculum Administrator Magazine.
As featured in the magazine's February 2000 issue, this prestigious award is designed to help educators identify the highest quality Web sites among the many that offer free K-12 curriculums.
"I am thrilled that Disney Educational Productions has been acknowledged by such an influential competition as the Curriculum Web Site Awards," said Ken Goldstein, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Online. "This honor confirms the outstanding work of Bill Scollon, Catherine Wood and Nancy Casolaro in extending Disney.com's trusted quality of online resources, already well accepted in the home, into the classroom."
The award was presented to Disney.com's Edu-Station, which boasts numerous noteworthy initiatives. Among these are CyberLesson Plans with themes such as Native American storytelling, stargazing and food traditions; an Internet Safety page which provides guests with an array of smart Web-surfing tools; and Share Your Ideas, an area for educators to exchange lesson plans and instructional tips. The site also introduces guests to a number of important books and videos and provides links to several teacher-tested sites.
The Curriculum Web Site Awards 2000 competition, which recognized such esteemed educational sites as AT&T Learning Network, National Geographic.com and New York Times Learning Network celebrated Disney.com's Edu-Station for its excellent variety of multimedia learning features.
