Disney.com and Woodward Camp Ramp Up Extreme Online Fun
Disney.com, the No. 1 Web site for kids and families, together with Woodward Camp -- a popular training ground for future X-Gamers -- today announced a unique new Web site that brings exclusive, real-time extreme-sports action directly to desktops.
Located in the mountains of central Pennsylvania, Woodward Camp provides an aggressive training program and facility for aspiring skaters, riders and extreme-sport athletes. Featuring radical training ideas and such advanced facilities as its massive indoor skate park, Woodward Camp attracts the world's top professionals, as well as more than 10,000 campers every summer.
By logging onto www.disney.com online guests can now experience all of the intense action directly from the camp's venue in Woodward, Pa., as they virtually ride, grind and wipe out alongside their favorite pro and amateur X-sports athletes.
"The very first time we visited Woodward Camp, we experienced the same magic that defines Disney," said Ken Goldstein, executive vice president and managing director of Disney Online. "Woodward Camp addresses the interests of teens and tweens in a way that truly brings out the emotion in extreme sports."
"Camp Woodward is and always has been kid and family oriented since its founding," said Gary Ream, president of Woodward Camp Inc. "It's very exciting to be able to share the unique atmosphere of Woodward with the rest of the world through the creativity of Disney. Woodward has often been referred to as the 'Disneyland' of Extreme Sports, so it's wonderful to have the opportunity to work with Disney Online."
This new online destination marks another Disney.com endeavor aimed at the Y-generation. In addition to extending its online attractions to include the cutting-edge action of extreme sports, Disney.com presents much of this entertainment in the real-time format that has proven so popular among this age group. With video cameras stationed in numerous destinations on the camp's grounds, the Web site reveals campers and pros practicing their most extreme moves.
