The El Capitan Theatre Invites Moviegoers to Sing Along With 'Mary Poppins' With Special One-of-a-Kind Interactive Movie Experience Starting August 3rd
Hollywood's legendary El Capitan Theatre invites moviegoers to sing along as Walt Disney's Academy Award®- winning classic "Mary Poppins" returns to the big screen in a whole new way starting on August 3rd, it was announced today (7/19) by Richard Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group. For this special engagement, a restored 35mm Dolby Stereo print of the classic 1964 film has been customized with on-screen lyrics of all the songs so that audiences can join in the fun by singing along. Additionally, Mary Poppins herself will introduce the show at each performance. Moviegoers are encouraged to dress as their favorite character from the film -- the practically perfect Mary Poppins, Bert the charismatic chimney-sweep, laugh-loving Uncle Albert, stuffy Mr. Banks, the long-suffering Suffragette Mrs. Banks, the kindly bird woman, a penguin waiter or the precise Admiral Boom. Prizes for best costume will be awarded at each show.
The El Capitan's exclusive Sing Along engagement of "Mary Poppins" kicks off at 7:00 pm on Thursday August 3rd with a special appearance and performance by the Sherman Brothers, the Supercalifragilistic Academy Award®-winning songwriting duo. Other cast and crew members are also expected to attend. The complete schedule for "Mary Poppins" is as follows:

So relax those vocal chords, dress up as one of your favorite characters from the film and come out to the El Capitan for a one-of-a-kind experience."
Nominated for 13 Oscars® and winner of five (including one for the song "Chim Chim Cher-ee"), "Mary Poppins" is considered the crowning achievement in Walt Disney's illustrious filmmaking career. Released in 1964 and directed by Robert Stevenson, this cinematic adaptation of the P.L. Travers classic stars Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, the late David Tomlinson, Glynis Johns, Karen Dotrice and Matthew Garber.
