Preview Bonus Features on "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas - Special Edition," Available for the First Time on Video and DVD at www.nightmarebeforexmas.com
Touchstone Home Video's "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas - Special Edition" features more than 60 magical minutes of bonus footage and is available for the first time on video and DVD.
The Special Edition features two of Burton's frightfully comical shorts: his directorial debut, "Vincent" (1982), about a boy's delusion that he's Vincent Price, and the never-before-available uncut version of his horror spoof "Frankenweenie" (1984), a spoof of the Frankenstein horror film genre. The DVD also includes a still-frame gallery, storyboard-to-film comparison and deleted scenes.
Film buffs will appreciate the presentation of "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas - Special Edition" in the original theatrical aspect ratio (1.66:1) selected by the filmmakers, using a master approved by Burton himself. For the ultimate in DVD audio, it contains DTS 5.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround.
Welcome to Tim Burton's nightmare, then, just a click away at www.nightmarebeforexmas.com. Sample an exclusive clip from the "making of" featurette, detailing Burton's journey on the first full-length stop-motion animated feature, in the Special Bonus Features area.
Set in hilariously creepy Halloween Town, the story follows a scheme by the head of Halloween, skeletal Jack Skellington, to take over Santa's holiday. Jack and his band of well-meaning frightsters prove hopelessly inept at spreading joy to little boys and girls, landing Christmas -- and Santa -- in serious jeopardy. The film's inspired songs by composer Danny Elfman (Oingo Boingo) garnered a Grammy nomination.
Also new from Walt Disney Home Video is a special edition of the delicious fantasy "James and the Giant Peach," another stop-motion movie milestone. View a sneak peek at www.jamesandthegiantpeach.com. Based on the Roald Dahl fable, this project sprang from the same filmmakers as "Nightmare" (director Henry Selick and producers Tim Burton and Denise Di Novi, among them).
Exclusive bonus materials on the VHS and DVD include the "Good News" music video performed by composer Randy Newman, a production featurette and the original theatrical trailer. The DVD also offers a gallery of concept art and puppet designs.
