Dean Hallett Named Executive Vice President, The Walt Disney Studios
Dean Hallett has been promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer, The Walt Disney Studios (TWDS), it was announced today by Peter Schneider, Chairman of TWDS, and Tom Staggs, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer of The Walt Disney Company. Hallett is responsible for all financial, strategic, and operational aspects of the Studio.
Commenting on the announcement, Schneider said, "Dean's leadership skills and keen business sense make him an invaluable member of our team. With his strategic guidance, especially on such key priorities as the windowing and life cycle management of our products, he'll be instrumental in bringing the Studio into its next generation of success."
"Dean is an extremely talented executive and a key asset to the Studio's management team," added Staggs. "He has been a driving force in their financial turnaround and we know he'll continue to keep the division on target for a long time."
Hallett, formerly senior vice president and chief financial officer for TWDS, joined The Walt Disney Company in 1990 and TWDS in 1991. Prior to his CFO role, he was senior vice president of Planning and Control for TWDS, and vice president of Finance and Administration for Buena Vista Pictures Marketing, respectively.
He joined Disney as a manager in the Corporate Management Audit department in 1990. In 1991, he moved to Buena Vista Pictures Marketing as a director of finance and was promoted to vice president in 1994.
Before coming to Disney, Hallett served for three years as Group Controller with Anthony Industries, Inc. (now K2, Inc.) and seven years in public accounting at Ernst and Whinney. He earned a business degree from the University of Southern California.
