Robert Miller Named President of Disney's Hyperion Book Unit

Robert S. Miller has been named president of Hyperion, Disney's book publishing arm, it was announced today by Robert Iger, president and chief operating officer of The Walt Disney Company.

Miller helped Disney establish Hyperion in 1990 and held the title of senior vice president and managing director. Hyperion publishes fiction and non-fiction, primarily for adults.

"Bob has done an outstanding job in the past ten years of creating a highly successful book publishing company for us," said Iger. "Under his leadership, Hyperion has published more than 1,000 titles -- of which more than 100 have been national best sellers."

Recent best-selling Hyperion books include: "The Hungry Ocean" by Linda Greenlaw, "Relationship Rescue" by Phil McGraw, "Natural Blond" by Liz Smith, "Middle of Nowhere" by Ridley Pearson, "The Unexpected Legacy of Divorce" by Judith Wallerstein, and "Shopgirl" by Steve Martin.

Forthcoming books include Michael J. Fox's "Lucky Man" and Peter Jennings' and Todd Brewster's "America."

Miller, 44, began his publishing career as an editorial assistant at St. Martin's Press, became a senior editor at Warner Books and later was a vice president at Dell Publishing and editorial director of Delacorte Press.

A native of Philadelphia, he holds a bachelor's degree in English Literature and Linguistics from Boston University, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He, his wife Marta, and their three children live in New Jersey.

He currently is chairman of the Association of American Publishers.
