Summer At The Disneyland® Resort Brings Magic of 'Disney's Electrical Parade' To The New Disney's California Adventure™ Park

New Buzz Lightyear Show, Updated Mr. Lincoln, Atlantis: The Lost Empire Characters Round Out Entertainment at the Disneyland Resort

As part of the first summer season at the newly expanded Disneyland® Resort, the dazzling "Disney's Electrical Parade" returns to Southern California on Wednesday, July 4 to begin nightly performances at the Resort's all-new theme park, Disney's California Adventure™.

At Disneyland® park, the summer lineup showcases a new Buzz Lightyear stage show, a newly updated "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" attraction, the stars of Disney's new animated feature Atlantis: The Lost Empire and the dynamic musical group Barrage.

Extended daily summer hours for both parks are in effect from Friday, June 22 through Sunday, September 2.

Even more entertainment, dining and shopping await guests at the new Downtown Disney® District, a beautiful esplanade of restaurants, nightclubs and shops located near the two parks. And for lodging, the Disneyland Resort now offers three hotels - Disney's Grand Californian Hotelsm, Disney's Paradise Piersm Hotel and the Disneyland® Hotel.

Disney's California Adventure
The perennially popular "Disney's Electrical Parade" (formerly called "The Main Street Electrical Parade") returns to California in all its magical glory to begin a summer-long engagement at Disney's California Adventure. The cherished procession's illuminating nighttime performances, coupled with its distinctive "Baroque Hoedown" synthesized soundtrack, was last seen at Disneyland in November 1996.

Bringing a variety of Disney animated features to life through three-dimensional units covered with thousands of colorful lights, the parade showcases scenes and characters from Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, among others. Some of the parade's most impressive scenes are the 23-foot-tall Clock Tower over Cinderella's Ball, complete with elegant, light-covered ballroom dancers; and the smoke-breathing, tail-wagging Elliott the dragon from Pete's Dragon.

Other entertainment at the park includes the daytime pageant, "Eureka! A California Parade;" the energetic "Disney's Steps in Time" stage show in the Hyperion Theater; Road Trip, a talented rock band that cruises the park; and Vocal Flight featuring "Jondo," a talented singing group in Condor Flats.

Disneyland
Disneyland is offering a host of new features this summer. Starting Saturday, June 30, Toy Story hero Buzz Lightyear lends his exciting persona to "Club Buzz - Lightyear's Above the Rest," a new intergalactic entertainment and food venue located in futuristic Tomorrowland. During an interactive stage show entitled "Calling All Space Scouts: A Buzz Lightyear Adventure," Buzz and his co-stars - new friend Space Cadet Starla, the Little Green Men from outer space and the nefarious Emperor Zurg - will dazzle the audience with music, humor and action. Several shows will be presented daily.

The unique musical ensemble Barrage will be spotlighted for three shows nightly on the Club Buzz stage from July 17-August 5 (except July 22-23). This 11-piece band presents a stunning visual and aural fusion of music, dance and theater. The group is comprised of seven violin/fiddle players, guitar, bass, drums and percussion, and performs everything from Celtic and Canadian folk music to eclectic swing, jazz fusion and a touch of rock 'n roll.

A newly updated "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" attraction debuts in mid July in the Main Street Opera House. The new show immerses guests in the firsthand perspective of an 1863 Union soldier on leave in Washington, D.C. and fighting in a Civil War battle, using period photographs and state-of-the-art 3-D audio technology. The presentation climaxes with Abraham Lincoln's emotional Gettysburg Address, delivered by the lifelike "Audio-Animatronics®" figure of the 16th President.

Also new at Disneyland are the characters from Disney's latest animated feature, Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Greeting guests at the lagoon near the Matterhorn will be eager explorer Milo Thatch, the beautiful Princess Kida of Atlantis, mining expert "Mole" Moliere and the unflappable demolition expert, Vinny Santorini.

Daily summer entertainment also includes the "Disneyland Parade of the Stars" on Main Street, U.S.A.; dazzling nighttime aerial fireworks; the "FANTASMIC!" special-effects extravaganza; and "Disneyland Presents Animazement - The Musical" at the Fantasyland Theatre.
