Pumpkin Carving with Terri Hardin
October 27 in Garden Grove - minutes from Disneyland

Want to be the envy of your neighborhood this Halloween Season? With the expert guidance of sculptor Terri Hardin you can create a marvelous pumpkin to decorate your porch, patio or walkway. Unlike the simple store bought kits which merely cut entirely through the pumpkin's skin, Terri will demonstrate techniques for carving the pumpkin's exterior flesh to create masterful images. She'll guide participants on how to use the pumpkins abnormalities to create truly unique faces. Whether the sculpture is simple or more advanced is completely up to you.

The adventure begins Saturday, October 26th in a caravan to Temecula to Terri's favorite pumpkin patch to select your pumpkin. (You're not required to travel, but you must make arrangements to have a pumpkin selected for you during this visit). The caravan departs at 9a from the Garden Grove Historical Society, 12174 Euclid, Garden Grove (Just south of Chapman on Euclid, minutes from Disneyland)

Lessons begin Sunday, October 27th at 9a at the Garden Grove Historical Society, 12174 Euclid, Garden Grove (Just south of Chapman on Euclid, minutes from Disneyland)

Fee: The class itself will be $25. The pumpkin will cost $15 each.

You are asked to bring a long serrated knife to cut a hole in the top of the pumpkin and a large scoop or metal spoon to scrape out the pumpkin's insides. While carving tools will be provided if you like to bring your own so you don't have share, Kemper's mini ribbon tool aluminum handle with steel tip set is recommended. It can be found for about $11.

Pumpkin carving is terrific adventure for the first time artist. Pumpkins have a short shelf life so love it or hate it you only have about a week to live with it. :)
