LPWire: Disney Records Release Piglet's Big Movie Soundtrack, 3/18

Walt Disney Records Releases "Piglet's Big Movie'' Soundtrack on March 18th; Featuring New Songs Written and Performed by Carly Simon

Little Piglet springs onto the big screen in the family size pig tale "Piglet's Big Movie." The Walt Disney Records soundtrack features new songs from Academy Award(R) and Grammy(R) Award winner Carly Simon including, "If I Wasn't So Small (The Piglet Song)," "Mother's Intuition" and "With a Few Good Friends." The soundtrack also includes score and bonus tracks and is set for release on March 18th.

"Piglet's Big Movie" brings "the little pink guy" to center stage for a story of friendship and appreciation as the gang from the Hundred Acre Wood learns that it doesn't take somebody big to do big things. Piglet gets that inferior feeling when his friends begin a "honey harvest" and he is told that he's too small to help. When Piglet disappears, the others use his scrapbook as a map to find him - and in the process discover that this "Very Small Animal" has been a big hero in a lot of ways. After an eventful search and a dramatic climax, Piglet once again demonstrates how large an influence he is on his pals.

Internationally renowned singer/songwriter Carly Simon brings her own magic to Piglet and friends. Simon wrote seven new songs for the soundtrack and performs several songs in the movie including the classic "Winnie the Pooh." Through the film's music, Simon expresses the heart and soul of its characters.

"Without a doubt Disney movies have had an impact on my music. I couldn't be happier to be part of this legacy that Disney started," reported Simon. "To me, it's about identification with the characters. Each character personifies something about human beings. You can say, I'm a little Tigger, I'm a little hyperactive today or you can say this is sort of a Piglet kind of day, when I have a little low self esteem, when I feel very small."

One of the most influential and cherished singer/songwriters, Carly Simon has recorded and released 25 albums and has contributed to over 5 major motion picture soundtracks including the Oscar-winning track "Let the River Run" from the film "Working Girl." Rhino Records recently released the two-disc set "Carly Simon Anthology," a collection of 40 tracks released between 1970 and 1994.
