The Walt Disney Classics Collection announces “Welcome Little Darling,�? an all-new porcelain sculpture derived from Walt Disney’s classic animated feature “Lady and the Tramp.�? The sculpture depicts the lovely little cocker spaniel Lady as she first meets a new addition to the family of her two owners, Jim Dear and Darling, played against the refrain of the film’s signature lullaby “La La Lu.�?

“Welcome Little Darling�? premieres this month as an open edition sculpture. With its sweet depiction of love and affection it is the ideal gift for new parents, mothers and baby showers. Created by noted sculptor Gwen Dutcher, “Welcome Little Darling�? (6�?’ high) has a suggested retail price of $199 (US) / $314 (CAN).

Walt Disney’s Lady and the Tramp premiered in Chicago on June 16, 1955. It was the first Disney animated feature to be produced in CinemaScope (a wide-screen film format). Upon its release the film was both a commercial and critical success, garnering numerous awards and accolades including the Parents Magazine Medal Award, Italian International Award, Plaque – Daughters of the American Revolution and was selected for exhibition at the Ninth International Edinburgh Film Festival. Lady and the Tramp is also noted for its memorable song score by Peggy Lee and Sonny Burke, especially the song “Bella Notte�? which accompanies the film’s famous “spaghetti scene�? (previously rendered by the Walt Disney Classics Collection).

The Walt Disney Classics Collection is renowned for its faithful recreation of unforgettable moments from Disney’s animated films. The collection features a broad array of sculptures ranging in suggested retail price from $50 to more than $2,000. Created by Disney sculptors and artists, each sculpture is meticulously crafted out of fine porcelain or resin and is hand-painted according to the film’s original color palettes.
