(May 20, 2009) Regal Entertainment Group, a leading motion picture exhibitor owning and operating the largest theatre circuit in the world, announced today that tickets are on sale now for Disney-Pixar’s Up in Disney Digital 3D. Regal Entertainment Group will offer this digital 3D presentation at 222 locations across the country utilizing the RealD cinema system. The movie opens Friday, May 29.
“Moviegoers can visit their neighborhood Regal theatre to enjoy this summer adventure which takes them on a high-flying balloon ride. Up will be available on the big screen in 3D at more than 220 Regal Entertainment Group locations across the country,” stated Dick Westerling, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Advertising for Regal Entertainment Group.
In Disney-Pixar’s Up, 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredericksen finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell. Up is rated PG for some peril and action.
Regal Entertainment Group utilizes RealD® 3D projection systems to provide true-to-life 3D. RealD is a new generation of digital 3D, giving moviegoers a stunningly realistic movie experience that engages the imagination, activates the senses and invites the audience not only to watch a film, but also step inside the story. Audience members will utilize comfortable, lightweight glasses to view the film’s 3D effects. These glasses can be taken home as souvenirs of the movie or recycled after guests exit the presentation.
