Disneyland Hotel's Stromboli's Restaurant Last Day

On Saturday night, April 10th the LaughingPlace.com staff and guests enjoyed a final dinner at Stromboli's.  The restaurant closed its doors that evening to prepare for its transformation into Goofy's Kitchen as part of the Disneyland Hotel's major renovations this summer. Stromboli's first opened its doors in September 1995 replacing the Cafe Villa Verde restaurant.  

Stromboli's menu contained many Italian-style dishes including Tequila Lime Chicken Fettuccine, Lobster Ravioli and a variety of pizzas. One of their more popular items was the Tortilla Soup which was a creamy, zesty flavored soup with chicken, avocado and garnished with brightly colored tortilla strips. But even more popular was the sun-dried tomato spread (cream cheese and tomatoes blended together) which accompanied the complimentary bread basket. Affectionately known as "orange goop" this spread would disappear quickly upon arrival.  Stromboli's did once attempt to replace the tomato spread with a variety of different cream cheese mixtures but thanks to guest reaction this was short-lived.

The restaurant tables were each covered with a large white sheet of paper which provided children with plenty of drawing spaces.  They even had large stamps of the characters from Pinocchio which would be applied to the table and the children would color. Children's menus were Pinocchio masks. 

While we enjoyed Stromboli's cuisine and decor, it was the restaurant staff that kept us coming back. From Tim's magic bending spoon trick to Chris' pouring our lemonade from four feet above our table without spilling a drop, the staff made you feel like you were their special guest and we always enjoyed the moments they were able to spend with us.

While Stromboli's restaurant provided a delightful and delicious meal outside Disneyland it captured and reflected the magic of the Happiest Place on Earth.We will miss you, Stromboli's.
