Disneyland Update - October 26, 1999

New Strollers
On Monday, October 18th, Disneyland discontinued the use of their old strollers and replaced them with two new styles of more modern strollers. The main stroller is the four wheeler that holds up to 45lbs. The second stroller is a three wheel model that can hold up to 75lbs. On both strollers the identification card now goes on the back of the stroller instead of the top. Both strollers still cost $7 per day. Through November 20th, due to the Main Street paving construction, the stroller rental has been relocated to the Disney Showcase patio and wheelchair and ECV rentals have been relocated to the Main Street Firehouse.
Note: The four wheel stroller is allowed on the Disneyland Railroad but the larger capacity three wheel stroller is not.

Our favorite part - A stroller to the back of the
ankles shouldn't be nearly as painful now.

Switchbacks at the Ticket Booths
With the DCA construction pushing walls closer the ticket booths, there isn't as much room there as there used to be. To help keep the ticket booth lines from extending too far back, switchbacks are now being used with one switched back queue being used to be feed multiple booths. Though I don't know for sure this is a new system, I don't recall ever seeing it before.

Disneyland Hotel Update
The Cove Pool and Papeete Beach is still closed though we've heard it does open if, for some reason, the Neverland Pool needs to temporarily close. The new health spa is also located in this same area. We've also been told that, due to low occupancy at the Disneyland Hotel, Granville's Restaurant and Croc's Bits 'n' Bites counter service restaurant are not opening every day. In fact, as of right now, Granville's will not be open at all this week or this weekend. This means that there are times when Disneyland Hotel guests only onsite restaurant choices are Goofy's Kitchen and Hook's Pointe, both of which close between lunch and dinner. There is a small store, Hook's Galley, that serves premade sandwiches and salads and the PCH Grill at the Disneyland Pacific Hotel is only a short walk away. Room service is also available.

Miscellaneous Collectibles Update
Recently a new crop of noise-making mini bean bags has appeared in Adventureland. We already mentioned these in a LaughingPlace.com headline a few days ago, but in case you missed it click here for the story and pictures. We also recently reported on a Chef Goofy mini bean bag coming to Goofy's Kitchen next month. Click here for that story if you missed it the first time around.

Even more exciting, the Disneyana Shop on Main Street is now carrying the Peter Ellenshaw artwork recently released by Walt Disney Art Classics. Click here for more information on this beautiful new series. The addition of the Ellenshaws to the Disneyana Shop (shown below) really add to the look of the store and provide a welcome change from viewing animation art.
