Mickey and Minnie on vacation at Disney's California Adventure

These characters range from those out on Main Street USA to those like Flik and Atta over at the Bountiful Valley Farm to Goofy strolling around the grounds of the Disneyland Hotel between meals over at Goofy’s Kitchen. And while they would love to be able to spend as much time as possible with each and every guest, it’s not always possible depending upon how big of a crowd is surrounding them. A key point would be to see what characters are getting swarmed and try to avoid those areas. For example, Mickey and Minnie might be over at Sunshine Plaza in DCA… the crowds are huge in the morning because they are the first characters anyone sees when walking into the park. But if you venture a little further into the park going toward Bountiful Valley Farms, guess what? Very little or no crowds with Flik and Atta. In fact, those two are sure to be playing around in the farm area until people finally show up. Obviously the best days are to go during the week since weekends are the days that have all the locals swarming into the parks.

If you do happen do catch them playing, don’t be afraid to venture on over to them… they’ll spot you or else their bodyguard (character host) will say something to them. They may even bring you into their little game… now this is the time that I enjoy. Granted I have been doing this for many years and most of them know my face, but that won’t matter as long as you know who they are, you’re willing to let down your hair, and loosen that top button that seems to have cut off the blood flow to the brain. Hop out of corporate mode and relax… this is your vacation.
