Plan ahead for the Day(s) at Sea; With every guest remaining onboard for two days on the Western Caribbean sailings, many of the activities fill up quickly and all pools and upper decks become packed early on. Stake your claims as early as possible! Also, Palos offer a Champagne Brunch (between 10:30am and 1pm) on these days, which is the most sought-after reservation on the DCL. Palos also offers a High Tea between 3:30pm and 4:30pm on these days. To secure a reservation, proceed straight to Palos on the day of departure.

Perfect for the days at sea!

Book the kids into Oceaneers Lab & Oceaneers Club; These facilities are two of the finest interactive crèches I have ever encountered. Themed closely to Disney/Pixars Toy Story and Peter Pan, the counsellors are trained in child day-care and offer a superlative level of service. Although the vacation should be about enjoying the time with your families, dropping the kids off to the Lab or Club for short bursts of entertainment with leave you to enjoy the ship! The counsellors are organised into five separate age ranges within the child-care centres. The kids love the clubs, with point-in-fact being that we saw one kid who was participating in a hide-and-go-seek game and had remained hidden under a counsellors desk in the reception area for over two hours!

Experience the Magic; The entertainment staff operates an adult programming series. Disneys Art of Entertaining is hosted by a chef from the restaurants and offers an interesting insight into food preparation, serving and hosting that would shame even a pre-ImClone Martha Stewart. Disneys Navigator Series offers informal Q&A sessions with the captain and his crew, the cast of the Walt Disney Theatre and a fascinating talk and presentation that talks extensively about the construction of the ships in Venice. Finally, Disney Behind the Scenes invites the cruises chosen Disney celebrity to talk with the guests in the Walt Disney Theatre. Our celebrity was Ernie Sabella, the voice of Pumbaa from Disneys The Lion King, whose irreverent New York humour was a delight to behold as he spoke candidly about his career and the future of Pumbaa himself (star of the upcoming prequel that reunites all of the surviving voice talents from the original).
