Interact with the cast; This really is a given. The cast are phenomenally warm and talkative and the stories they have to share are all vastly entertaining. A huge proportion of the cast are native to non-American shores and virtually every cast member will talk animatedly about their homeland. All of the cast are specialist in their chosen field and therefore knowledgeable, so use that to your advantage when choosing meals and beverages (especially for cocktails!). The wine selection onboard is excellent with several unusual offerings.
Relax! The beauty of the DCL is that you can participate to suit your mood and desire. Many guests even avoid the rotation dining some nights and enjoy the buffet offered in Topsiders/Beach Blanket Buffet. There is a veritable smorgasbord of events and activities throughout the week and participation is entirely down to you. However, I offer one caveat; if you do not wish to become part of the show yourself, avoid the deck parties as the highly enthusiastic cast members might just drag you into the entertainment.
Book your next cruise! Virtually all cruises have an onboard sales team who will be able to hook you up with your next vacation. There are often significant discounts applied if booked during the current cruise. Watch out for the sales agent on Deck Five of the atrium.
The Disney Cruise Line is simply Disney perfection, but it can be a little daunting on your first attempt. There is so much going on and easy to miss the fun. The point is that you can dip in (and out) of the Disney fun as you see fit. Many of the guests onboard are not Disney enthusiasts and love cruising per se. You definitely meet a different type of guest on the DCL. It is even possible to avoid the Disney-themed entertainment and just enjoy the host of bars and adult-orientated entertainment offered. The ship will not be filled with children, although there will be a significant number, but they soon find the fun and excitement of the Mickey pool and the Oceaneer’s Club & Lab too alluring to avoid. At any one time, there can be as many as 800 children onboard, but you would never guess that figure as the ships have an amazing tendency to absorb guests of all ages with the huge variety of tempting options.
We have to wait until next May for our next Disney cruise, onboard the Disney Wonder for the fifth annual Celebration of Walt Disney Art Classics.
