Finally, the quartet debunk to a wooded vista, complete with an old oak tree. The four artists set up camp and begin to paint their own personal interpretation of the giant oak, each supplying an narrative to their perspective. Marc’s painting is on grey paper, so he can use black and white oil paints. This final image is reminiscent of his unique style, one that was instrumental in the aesthetics of the Haunted Mansion and the Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland. Earle visualises the tree in a wholly different way, focusing on the trunk, with its twisted, knarred form, covered in lichen and potted throughout. The contrast could not be starker.

Walt affectionately narrates the piece with a great deal of heart, like a proud father or mentor watching his charges. He perfectly sums up the studio philosophy, by describing the animation process as like an orchestra; the individual artists are all accomplished soloist in their own sphere, but this is quickly forgotten as they are working towards a goal, to ensure that the orchestra performs optimally and collectively as one.
