Mission: Space - New Horizons?

Will Mission:Space be the attraction to pump new vigour and life into WDW’s second park? In this instance, only time will tell. The advance buzz was so positive, this summer, that dozens of guests would sit idly around the pavilion, waiting to see whether the attraction would “soft open? that day. On days when the ride was operational, the various sidewalks crisscrossing in front of both Test Track and Space were teeming with people, eager to discover more about a pavilion that did not even exist on the guidemap. Test Track with its obvious rollercoaster-style thrills was easily marketed; Mission:Space will be harder. Even Disney cannot decide quite what the ride is, with some in WDW Publicity calling it a simulator a la Star Tours and others going to painstaking lengths to highlight the centrifugal forces exerted by the unique journey. Internet sites have been buzzing with rumours of mass nausea by advance riders (all hotly denied by WDW and all attraction hosts). Ultimately, the ride will encourage guests to spend longer period in Future World, and that is a positive benefit to all aspects of EPCOTlife. Merchandise was already red hot on preview days, and the lines are some of the most creative and stylised dreamt up by the Disney Design Group in years.
