Chante, C’est Noel!

The Christmas parade had been altered substantially for 2003 with the retiring of the Nutcracker parade that had marched down Main Street throughout November and December for many years. Instead the Wonderful World of Disney parade was re-worked for the third time this year alone (the prior incarnations being the Princess Parade, that is returning for Spring 2004 and the Halloween 2003 parade).

Although the new song by Vasile Sirli, the resident music producer at DLRP and his current lyricist Jay Smith, Chante, C’est Noel is upbeat and catchy, the constant looping of this piece of music with not even any interstitials or alterations is grating for an entire parade. In addition, whereas the Halloween version featured some clever and quirky changes, the Christmas incarnation sees the giant parade floats decorated in just garlands and baubles. However, all performers are dressed in stunning white and gold Victorian costumes, from the princes and princesses on each float to the street performers walking between the floats themselves. Credit must be given to the Disneyland Entertainment staff, who have worked tirelessly during 2003 with numerous new parades and shows, targeting repeat guests, but the Christmas parade was nothing new and did not warrant a repeat viewing.
