Michelle on a cool 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea event and the most recent Marc Davis Lecture Series.

Man, do I have a lot to write about this week - so much so, that I'm going to - if it's okay with Doobie - break it up into pieces over the next week.

Anyone who knows me well knows that I'm nuts about Discovery Bay and have a serious thing for Captain Nemo. K
ym Hainley sent me a press release about a 20K convention she and some pals are putting together. Remind me to not schedule any classes that weekend!

Isn't the name "Chandler's Cove Historical Society" cool? I named it. I'm just an attendee, not an organizer, however. I hope to see you there.

Speaking of Discovery Bay, et al., I'm finally going to finish that Discovery Bay series I started a long time ago. Last week, I had the pleasure of sitting down with a true Disney Legend - Pete Reneday. We talked about the Discovery Bay Chronicles, his long career with Disney, and his latest gig for them - the voice of the narrator for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, which officially opens today at Disneyland Park, while Playhouse Disney Live on Stage debuts across the plaza in Disney's California Adventure. The openings have been scaled way back due to the war, which is a pretty logical action on Disney's part, but I will be there, and you'll see a story and photos about that later.

Last night, I attended the AMPAS Marc Davis Animation Lecture Series - the eighth one - and it was all about Disney Legends, two of Walt's Nine Old Men, and living American Treasures Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnson. What I love about the AMPAS lectures is that you really do learn a lot - in fact, I'm still kind of "wrapping my head around" everything that was stuffed into it last night. I really want to cover this in depth when I'm sure I've got everything where it's supposed to be. But I will give a brief overview of the evening.
