To present the Buzz Price Thea Award Recognizing a Lifetime of Distinguished Achievements, prior recipient and Imagineer Kim Irvine was joined on stage by John Lasseter, who talked about Imagineer Joe Rohde. He even talked about how Joe came to start wearing his signature earrings.

In addition to what I noted before, it is important to recognize that Joe was instrumental in the development of the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund.

Something else I noticed… mention of the Adventurers Club was met with enthusiastic cheers from the assembled, and I overheard, after the ceremony, someone imploring John Lassetter to bring the club back.

The Lifetime Achievement recipients who were in attendence got together for their group picture. Left to right: Barry Upson, Marty Sklar, Yves Pepin, Robert L. Ward, Bob Rogers, Kim Irvine, Jack Rouse, Joe Rohde, Don Iwerks, Bob Gurr, Monty Lunde, Tony Baxter. Past recipients not pictured: Jon Jerde, Mark Fuller. Past recipients who’ve passed: Harrison “Buzz” Price, John Hench, and George Millay.

Other presenters included Nancy Cartwright, perhaps best known for voicing Bart Simpson, Ambassador of American Charles Phoenix (who gave a bit of a humorous slideshow), and Dr. George Fischbeck (best known for giving us the weather on KABC-TV Channel 7 for so many years.

After the ceremony, people enjoyed desserts, more mingling, and posing for pictures with R2-D2.

It was great to see people recognized for their hard work and creativity and to learn about how the successful projects were created. If you are interested in attending, make plans for next year. Instructors should give students credit for Summit attendance, since the students attending will learn from real-world experiences.

Thanks to Gene Jeffers, Executive Director, for making this coverage possible. I enjoyed covering this event, and thanks to all who worked hard to put the Summit and Gala together.
