“Rogue One” and “Star Wars Rebels” are More Connected Than You May Realize

This weekend Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opened to an impressive $155 million dollars, showing that the power of the Force can extend beyond the numbered cinematic entries. However, let’s not forget the animated series that have kept the franchise going on the small screen: Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. While these shows might seem like their on their own little island, they are actually intertwined with their theatrical counterparts more than you might guess. In fact, Nerdist has taken note of some Star Wars Rebels easter eggs present in Rogue One.

*Warning: this article contains some spoilers for Rogue One & Star Wars Rebels.*

One such easter egg is the mention of a “General Syndulla,” as heard via a background announcement asking them to report. This could either be a reference to the Rebels character Hera Syndulla or her father.

Meanwhile, another Rebels character is actually visible in the film: Chopper. The droid can apparently be spotted rolling by in the Rebel base on Yavin IV. Additionally, keep your eyes peeled for the Ghost flying among the other ships during the Battle of Scariff.

For more such easter eggs, be sure to check out the full post on Nerdist, but there is one more thing we should mention. It looks like Saw Gerrera, played by Forest Whitaker in Rogue One, is coming to Star Wars Rebels. Interestingly, Saw actually first made his debut on Star Wars: Clone Wars, so this really makes perfect sense.

To steal a phrase — it’s all connected!
