Eminem Samples “Kingdom Hearts” Music in New Album “Kamikaze”

“Simple” and “clean” are not exactly words that are typically used to describe Eminem’s music, but it looks like a song on his latest album just might fit that description. As the Independent reports, Eminem has sampled music from the popular Disney-themed video game Kingdom Hearts in his new song titled “Good Guy.”

“That’s me doing my video game thing. Kingdom Hearts. It’s a Japanese video game, and that’s the theme song from it,” producer Illadaproducer said. “It’s one of the dopest melodies I’ve ever heard. Shout out Japanese video games and Japanimation for inspiration. Filtered it, did some chops, did some processing to it.”

The music featured in the new song is taken from “Simple & Clean” by Japanese singer Utada Hikaru, featured in the international releases of Kingdom Hearts. Illadaproducer did his best to let the music fly under the radar, but the fans caught it.

“I basically made it unrecognizable, but I know they would have still found it,” he said. “That’s why we had to deal with the clearance. But when I do anything I try to make it to where it’s not fully recognizable.”
