Disney Stars Shine Bright at 2011 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards

LaughingPlace.com Newsdesk -- Numerous stars from Disney and ABC network programs appeared at the 2011 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards on Saturday, April 2 and although Nick's own popular series iCarly won the KCA for Favorite TV Show many of the award show's top honors went to current Disney stars.

Kids were encouraged to vote for their favorite movie and tv stars, tv shows, music and other categories. According to Nickelodeon a record-breaking 200 million votes were cast from March 7-April 2 in 20 categories. 

Johnny Depp received Nick's KCA orange blimp for Favorite Movie Actor for his role as the Mad Hatter in Walt Disney Pictures' Alice in Wonderland while Miley Cyrus won Favorite Movie Actress for her role in The Last Song (a Touchstone film)

Johnny Depp joined in the good natured fun of the event grabbing a slime hose and spraying the audience with Nick's signature green goo. Miley enthusiastically thanked her fans for their support when she won and added an additionally thank you for not getting slimed. She also thanked family and her The Last Song co-star Liam Hemsworth.

Teen superstar and Disney Channel favorite Selena Gomez won Favorite TV Actress for her role as Alex Russo in The Wizards of Waverly Place while Dylan Sprouse was Favorite TV Actor for his role as Zack Martin on The Suite Life on Deck.

In other categories the popular Nick series iCarly beat out Disney Channel's The Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life on Deck and Nick's Big Time Rush for Favorite TV Series. Nickelodeon's own SpongeBob SquarePants won Favorite Cartoon over Penguins of Madagascar, Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated and Disney Channel's Phineas and Ferb.  Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 3 was nominated for Favorite Animated Movie but failed to top Despicable Me by Universal Pictures and while both Tim Allen and Tom Hanks were nominated for their work in Toy Story 3 it was Eddie Murphy who was the kids' Favorite Voice From An Animated Movie for his work in Shrek Forever After.

Entertainers from around the world of Disney appeared including Sofia Vergara and Rico Rodriguez of ABC's Modern Family and star of the upcoming Muppets film Jason Segel who helped present the orange blimp to various fan favorites.

Former Mouseketeer now popular recording artist and actor Justin Timberlake received Nickelodeon's The Big Help Award for his philanthropic efforts on behalf of Shriners Hospitals for Children®. In receiving his award Justin reminded the audience that each individual's action can become some great and encouraged kids to try something "totally unexpected, Listen to your parents."

According to media reports the show drew 7.3 million viewers and was the top rating program for the week in kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and teens 9-14.
