Ok, the crowd, I mean, the guests, are assembled for the big moment.

What we'll see here, in both the wedding and the reception to follow, is the "MiraCosta Wedding Disney Fantastico".

The Disney Fantastico is much more of a show than the other option which we'll go into in a moment.  The Fantastico heavily plays up the Italian theme of the Hotel and area and features characters.  As you'll see, the Fantastico reception is quite a circus.

The cost of the Disney Fantastico is 3,500,000 yen for 70 guests and 2,800,000 yen for 50 guests.

There's another program known as the "MiraCosta Wedding Tradizionale". As the name states, it's a much more traditional affair - No characters and a reception that offers the opportunity for the sentimental tribute to the bride and groom which is traditionally given by older family members and close friends.

The cost of the Tradizionale is 3,100,000 yen and 2,450,000 yen for 70 and 50 guests, respectively.

The prices of both packages are considerably higher than average, but in line with the price of a high-end chapel wedding in Japan.  (The reference I used to come to that determination was as big as some phone books. There are a lot of establishments which offer the service.)

Again the cost (including the Hikide-nomono) is traditionally picked up by the bride's parents, but, each guest is required to bring a cash gift of at least 20,000 to 50,000 yen depending on how close one is to the bride or groom (it's usually 30 or 50 thousand, because even numbers can be divided too easily, so they're considered unlucky).  A more traditional household item must also be given, AND if the guests are part of a group of friends (coworkers, classmates, etc., they must buy a group gift in addition to the two obligations mentioned above.

The bride and groom will very often give a part of the monetary gift to the bride's parents to help offset the cost of the wedding. How much they help is a very personal matter and is almost never discussed beyond the four of them.

Oh, but I hear the organ.  It must be show time, I mean, time for the wedding.

And who's this?  If it's not the Mayor of Porto Paradiso, himself!  Well, this is the "Disney Fantastico" wedding, after all.
